About the Founder

Dr. Mahshid Mohammadi

Dr. Mahshid Mohammadi is a board-certified Infectious Diseases physician and the founder of Sterixa IPAC Consulting. She is American Board certified in both Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases, fellowship-trained in Infection Prevention and Control, and licensed to practice as an Infectious Diseases consultant in Ontario.

She also serves as a Professor of Medicine at Western University, where she combines clinical expertise with academic leadership in antimicrobial stewardship, outbreak management, and infection prevention. Dr. Mohammadi brings advanced expertise in Quality, Innovation, and Safety through specialized training.

Her consulting practice reflects extensive experience supporting hospitals, long-term care homes, and community facilities with evidence-based, physician-led strategies to reduce infection risk, improve antimicrobial use, and strengthen system-wide safety.

Dr. Shiva Barati

Dr. Shiva Barati earned her MD internationally over 20 years ago and has worked in diverse healthcare settings, from rural clinics to advanced urban hospitals. Since 2020, she has collaborated with Ontario and Toronto Public Health on infectious disease initiatives and conducted IPAC research at academic hospitals in Toronto, with a focus on respiratory infections and outbreak management.

She holds an MSc in Community Health from the University of Toronto’s Dalla Lana School of Public Health and played a key role in outbreak management during the COVID-19 pandemic, including in long-term care homes. Her research spans influenza, community-acquired pneumonia, pneumococcal disease, RSV, COVID-19, and monkeypox.

At Sterixa IPAC Consulting, Dr. Barati integrates her international clinical experience with Canadian public health expertise. As Health Data Specialist, she ensures all consultations are guided by accurate, high-quality, evidence-based data.
